I knew my Partner was using drugs recreationally, but over time, it became clear that it was more than he was telling me. He lost his job and that sunk him into a depression, which gave him reason to use more drugs, but not enough to admit he had a problem. He agreed to do a drug test and after testing positive, agreed to getting help. He has just entered a rehab facility in northern NSW and I really hope he gets the help and support he needs.
Thank you for all your advice and guidance. I will keep you updated.
I found your website via Facebook, and first let me say thank you for the wealth of information that you provide. It was all very useful in deciding on how we were going to do this. We purchased the combination oral and urine test and asked my 2 sons to do an oral drugs test on a Monday morning before school. One of them admitted before the test that he had been using Xanax and Marijuana and he tested positive for both.
We both expected the testing to be full of drama, but it went well. My Son knew what he was doing was wrong and we had a good discussion and put in place some boundaries which he has followed through. He has agreed to random testing any time.
All in all, a great result. I do wonder where this might had gone if we did not take the initiative and test the boys.
Again, thank you.
We knew Kevin drank a bit and used a bit of weed on weekends, but we really had no idea of how deep his addictions went, and how they affected his life. He was struggling financially and his marriage had recently ended and he had to move out of the family home. We had no idea.
Kevin tested positive for THC, Cocaine and Benzodiazepines, and it was starting to affect his ability to do his job, safety around the shop and he was missing too many days of work. I appreciated you advice and support and whilst it would have been much easier to fire Kevin, we decided to fund rehab and provided ongoing support and kept his job open. Kevin's back and he is back to his old self, back with his wife and it was probably the best decision we could have made.
Thanks for all the time you gave us. Keven thanks you as well.
I was not even aware these kind of tests existed and thought drug tests had to be done at a hospital.
We bought the urine test and our Son reluctantly did the test and tested positive for methamphetamine. David agreed to go to Odyssey House where he is doing well, and we are doing well as a family, supporting David as best we can.
I doubt it would have happened without knowing about your tests
I never ever thought that my children would use drugs. I was devastated when the school called saying that our Son had been caught selling marijuana. He initially admitted to selling marijuana but said he never used it. We insisted on a urine test and he tested positive for marijuana and cocaine and eventually admitted to both. We all attended counseling and my Son does 1 session per week. He has agreed to random testing and so far he has tested clean each time. He has changed some his friends and doing better at school.
But thanks for your phone guidance and advice. You helped us understand that this was not our fault. Please keep doing what you are doing
Tests were very helpful. We tested the entire Under 18’s football team (with consent of the parents) and found a few lads using things they shouldn’t. Helped us clean up the team and with support from the club and parents, hope it never happens again. Cheers
Looking back at my Daughters behavior, all the signs were right in front of me - the mood changes, staying out late, money problems, hostility, lethargy, stealing and constant excuses.
Her disease of addiction manifested itself right in front of us...and we couldn't see it.
After the stressful experience of getting her to agree to the tests, and she failed more than once, she agreed to get the help she needs. Sadly she did get a Police record that we were not even aware off, but I am pleased to say that she is making good decisions and we will continue to support her through this tough period.
I never thought for a minute one of my kids would get caught up in drugs. And looking back, there were signs that we just didn’t see. Initially Sarah refused to do the drug test. Said it was an invasion of her privacy and she didn’t use drugs anyway. We explained that regardless of the result of the test, we would be there to support her and not judge her. She tested positive for 3 different drugs. We really were not prepared for what to do next, but appreciate the support you gave us, and Sarah completed detox and then a 28-day treatment program in Bristol as now is a therapeutic community and doing amazing. We are so proud of her, and so thankful that a simple drug test changed the direction of her life…and ours. Thank you.
